Manny is a great artist and his drawings perfectly complemented Captain Paul Lutz's Sherman Newsletters home to our families.
I have copies of all the newsletters, but alas they are mostly 2nd and 3rd generation Xerox copies of copies not doing justice to Manny's wonderfully artistic drawings. At our last reunion in Portland Maine I asked Manny about using his newsletters in my graphical history of the Sherman and if he had the originals. He didn't have any of his originals! I think he told me the original drawings went to the Captain at the time the newsletters were sent out. Captain Lutz's daughter recently sent me all her copies of the Newsletters, but again no originals. So I did my best to recreate Manny's awesome artwork and remain as true the the original as possible even though I consider myself more of a illustrator than a artist! :-).
Captain Lutz wrote 11 Newsletters in the four years he served as the first CO of the Sherman .. and Manny Angeles drew 34 full page illustrations of events and ports of call during those years! .. Thank You Manny! BTW I Scanned all the Newsletters and recreated all 11 as PDF's ... I think I still have them posted in Documents on this website ... ready to be downloaded if you are interested.
