JJ O'Neil attended the Memorial Day Services at the American Military Cemetery in Manila. JJ represented the Coast Guard and the Coast Guard Combat Veterans Assoc. There are 57 Coast Guard who were Killed In Action & 1 Coast Guard POW, who's remains were re-interned there around 1960 from Mass Graves, etc. found around the Philippines & South Pacific Theater! In all, over 17,200 American & Filipino's are interned there. All are listed on the "Tablets of the Missing" as they are still classified as "Missing in Action". Of the 17,202 plain White Crosses most bear no names, due to the fact that identification of individual remains was impossible, as most were buried in Mass Grave's by the Japanese! The Inscription simply say's "The Soul resting here is known only to God" An additional 32,000 plus names are also inscribed on the "Tablets of the Missing", however, their remains have never been recovered! Next year JJ plans on placing CG Flags on each of the 58 Coast Guardsmans's Graves Fair Seas, "J.J."
