Just finished reading 'In the Heart of the Sea'. Good story about a Nantucket whaling ship that was sunk by a whale in Dec. 1820. The ship left Nantucket in Aug. 1819. They had rounded the treacherous Cape Horn and sailed North in the Pacific until they reached the equator where the 80 ton bull whale rammed them "twice". The crew spent 90 days at sea in 3 small boats. Most died. (80 ton whale. A large tractor trailer in the U.S. is rated to carry 40 tons) Quite a story imho.

This book is being made into a movie scheduled to be released Dec. 2015.  Director: Ron Howard

Great read ...  this was the real life story that inspired the novel Moby Dick.

Hi Wil, I spent a few nights at a HIUSA Hostel in Truro last month. As you know it was a C.G. Station at one time. They have not a single old pic of it as a C.G. Station. Wondering if you know whether there would be archives or pic's somwhere? They would love to have an old photo to hang on the wall. I plan to go back agin next Summer. Was a great place to stay for only $50.00 a night.
